1D Buyout Ottawa (again)

Hi guys! So it’s getting pretty close to the buyout so I thought I should make a post with all the final (or close to final) details.

First off I’d like to say how excited I am about this! When someone on twitter first gave me the idea I never thought the turn out would be this great! As of now there are 55+ people coming! You guys are awesome! I’ll try to keep this as short as possible but please bare with me because there’s a lot of stuff we want you guys to know!

Date: March 24th, 2011

Time: 12pm - 3pm

Location: There will be 3 locations

a)    Flash Mob: Parliament Hill

b)   Buyout: HMV on Sparks Street, Downtown Ottawa

c)    After Party: (don’t worry about this yet, it’s still being planned. Details will be posted as soon as we have them)

Please note that if you can’t/don’t want to come to any of the three events please let me know. I want to know approximate numbers for each event.  Also, all three things are happening on the same day, just in case any of you were confused!

Flash Mob

 So as many of you might have noticed, I didn’t post a video for the dance for the flash mob. I’m really sorry that I let you guys down but the flash mob has changed a bit, BUT IT IS STILL HAPPENING!  As a group, we decided that it would be too difficult for everyone to master a dance in just two weeks because we want it to look impressive so we decided to do a singing flash mob which still involves a bit of dancing. So here’s what we’re going to do:

• The flash mob will be posted on this group for you to learn.
• I will post the dance for you to learn. it’s going to be very simple so you should be able to learn it by the day of the flash mob however if you really can’t learn it learn it starting from the end. This way, you can stand casually on the side singing and run and join in for the part of the dance you do know.
• I will be standing at the front of the crowd doing the dance with some of you guys and I will position some of my friends that have the dance memorized throughout the group for you to follow as well.
• For the dance part each group will be doing a signature one direction dance move (possibly 2). So this will be simple stuff like; pat the dog-screw the lightbulb, stop the traffic,-let them through, the “up all night thrust”, etc. I’ll give each group the dance move(s) that goes best with their music.
• Please make sure you practice it and you know what you’re doing because if no one knows what they’re doing we’ll look really silly and it won’t be effective.
• I will post the mix of music on the group so you can practice.
• I’m really sorry it’s taken so long but i promise that i will make it as simple but effective as possible!

Buyout

 I think the buyout is pretty straightforward but just in case here’s all the details again.

• For those who don’t know, a buyout is when a group of people goes and buys all the copies of a selected item on a selected day. In our case we are buying the Up All Night CD.
• We will already be together from the flash mob and we will walk to HMV together. It’s about a 3 minute walk from the location of the flash mob.
• Costs are as follows:

1) Up All Night CD: $16.99

2) Dare to Dream (book): $24.99 (still waiting for confirmation that HMV will have it)

3) Forever Young (book): $24.99 (still waiting for confirmation that HMV will have it)

5) Food: $20 (I suggest you eat before you come but we can stop for snacks and stuff if people get hungry. My only concern is that we’ll overwhelm any fast food place with a huge group.)

4) As for the after party, we’re still in the middle of figuring things out but we will let you know as soon as we get the details.

Please note that you DO NOT have to buy everything I listed. I realize that people have different financial situations or that some of you already have the cd or the books. Although, the idea of a buyout is to buyout all the copies of the CD so even if you already have it, it would be awesome if you would like to buy one that we will donate to CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario).

Other Important Details

• On the day of the buyout you should dress warmly if it’s cold outside. We’re going to be walking around outside a lot so you’ll want to keep warm. I’m not saying you should come decked out in a full Arctic snowsuit but a hat and mitts would be a good idea.
• We’ll be doing the flash mob first. This is just because I know I won’t want to just leave whatever I buy at the buyout on the ground while we’re dancing and singing.
• Show your love for One Direction! Come dressed in anything 1D related! Face paint, t-shirts, wristbands, anything! We want people to know who we’re doing this for so don’t be shy! The crazier, the better!
• Please make a little nametag with your first name and/or twitter name. This is just so we can all get to know each other and you can get some new Ottawa Directioner followers!
• I have a very limited amount of “One Direction” and “Vas Happenin” bracelets left so it’s going to be first come first serve. There’s a picture of them on the twitter profile so check it out. If you want one come see me on the day of the buyout. They’ll be $5 each.
• Also the people who have been planning the buyout will be wearing big name tags on the day of the buyout so you can easily find us. I will have my phone on all day with the buyout account on twitter logged in. If you have any questions on the day of, please tweet me/message me there. I will be tweeting updates on where we are in case you’re running late. We should all meet at Parliament Hill at 12 (noon) at the “Eternal Flame” which is the giant fire right outside the front of the tower.
• We have made the facebook group and we will be posting and adding people to it very soon.
• It’s important that you check the group/twitter often in case anything gets changed, you don’t want to miss out on anything. We’re trying our best to get everything done as soon as possible so you have nothing to worry about.

We can’t wait to see you all! This is going to be so much fun! If anything changes, we will post it as soon as we change it and the details for the party will be up by the end of the week.

a buyout is an organized event for all fans in an area to meet together and buyout all the products to show their support. like directioners supporting One Direction, Beliebers supporting Justin Bieber etc. 

the products can be kept and/or donated to charities

it’s a great way to meet new people and help the people you’re a fan of! :)
